Our Barn Community Gardeners, part of the Blondin Consortium, Celebrate Success at the Ealing Biodiversity Awards 2025
The Our Barn Community Gardeners are celebrating after securing third place in the prestigious Ealing Biodiversity Awards for Gardens and Green Spaces 2025.
The dedicated team, who began caring for the grounds around Blondin Pavilion at the start of the year, have been working tirelessly in all weathers to ensure the Pavilion and surrounding park spaces remain clean, safe, and rich in biodiversity.
Led by experienced gardeners Cathy and Carole—who previously created and managed stunning gardens at Osterley Park’s Jubilee Lodge and the London Museum of Water and Steam—the Our Barn team is made up of members who share both a passion for gardening and the joy of finding friendship in green spaces.
Although this was their first year at the Pavilion, the group were uncertain about entering the competition. With encouragement from Linda and Karen, they decided to take part, marking an exciting milestone in their journey to develop Blondin Pavilion into a thriving, biodiverse community space.
Now in its second year, the Ealing Biodiversity Awards for Gardens and Green Spaces run alongside the long-established Schools Gardening and Allotments competitions, now celebrating their fifth year. Organised in collaboration with Ealing Council and ActforEaling, the awards shine a spotlight on the inspiring efforts of residents, schools, and community groups who care for and enhance local green spaces.
Speaking after their success, the Our Barn Community Gardeners expressed pride in their achievement:
“We were delighted to be included in this year’s awards. It’s wonderful to see such creativity and care in gardens and green spaces across the borough. This recognition motivates us to continue developing Blondin Pavilion into a bright, beautiful, and welcoming place for everyone.”
The team looks forward to building on their success in 2025, with exciting plans to further enhance the Pavilion gardens and contribute to the diverse and thriving green spaces that make up Ealing’s “Little London Community
