Our Barn Community Launches “Out & About Thursdays” to Foster Independence and Well-being
Successful First Outing:
The first group set off from the Pump & Grind Community Coffee Shop, where they gathered to discuss their expectations and plans for this new venture. Blessed with sunny weather, the group embarked on their maiden voyage into the local community. The picturesque Strand on the Green offered a delightful experience with its beautiful sights and sounds, enjoyed by both members and group leaders, Carole and Cathy.
Our Barn Community is thrilled to announce the launch of our new group, Out & About Thursdays. This exciting initiative is designed to encourage our members to explore their community while developing crucial independent skills such as planning routes, navigating transport links, and managing their time effectively. This activity aligns with our commitment to the five ways to well-being framework.
Upcoming Adventures:
The next outing will begin at the Water and Steam Museum, where participants will gather before setting off for a day of exploration and learning.
What to Bring:
- Freedom Pass and a prepaid card for any purchases
- A packed lunch
- Appropriate clothing for the weather and activities
- Inhaler or any medication you take during the day
This initiative is a fantastic opportunity for our members to gain confidence, learn new skills, and enjoy the rich experiences their community has to offer. We are excited about the positive impact this will have on their well-being and look forward to many more adventures together.
The feedback was good from our member Sarah who said,” it was a very successful first outing”.
Stay tuned for more updates on our journeys and join us in celebrating the success of Out & About Thursdays!
